Best shore snorkeling on Moorea at Tamae - like everyone says. Actually, some of the best shore snorkeling I have seen anywhere in the world - especially for the novice or intermediate - not scary or difficult, really only need to be able to float, Start from the north or left side as you face the ocean (one of my pictures faces that way) walk out along the shore as far as you can then kick to the coral - about 100-200 meters, the current normally comes from the north here and pushed us slowly across the reef in and out of fantastic clear water and colorful goral gardens teeming with all varieties of fish. Not hard at all even for the novice snorkeler, I expect the tour boats charge a hefty fee to drop you here - but you can easily do it from shore. South end of the beach you can go to the Sofitel area - very calm water and sandy bottom, perfect to just float and soak in the sun surrounded by other fish.

Beautiful white sandy beach. Surrounded by tall palm trees. Few shady areas to hide from the sun. Plenty of free parking. Bathroom/ Changing area. Very small tube shower to wash off any sand. Primary reason: snorkeling! Need to have fins. There is a strong current as you swim towards the reefs. Need to be comfortable in the water and a moderate swimmer. The fish are incredibly beautiful. The coral and ocean flora spectacular. And all for your enjoyment. And it is free!! Bring your underwater camera!

Beautiful beach really good to snorkeling, usually not really crowded.

Hana Iti was a beautiful and secluded beach. We had access to a small boat from our rental house to get to the beach. The snorkeling was good as well.

One of the best beaches in Moorea, frequented by tourists and locals, with soft white sand and great reefs for snorkeling. Easy to find and plenty of parking space. Not a lot of shade so take hats and/or an umbrella.
