  • Tahiti is big on selling pearls. The pearl museum provides background on how pearls are made in the modern day. They'll also sell you some.

  • Absolutely beautiful pearls! The store has a nice display on how Pearls are harvested, from traditional pearl divers to modern seeding of oysters and harvesting the pearls. Also, a nice display of pearl and mother-of-pearl artifacts. Well worth a visit.
  • This was a very informative museum on how cultured pearls are made. They have multiple displays and some video presentations. They also have some high end pearl jewelry for sale. Recommend this as one of your stops while in Papeete.
  • Great museum to get a better understanding of the pearl industry. Elegant space and the associates made us feel very welcome and no pressure to buy the beautiful pearls.
  • Very informative tour. The guide explained how the pearl was harvested and the exhibits are interesting. It will take you about 15 mins to move around. Spend time to read some articles. And did I mention it's air conditioned - great to escape the afternoon heat for awhile.
  • It is more an exhibition next to the shop than a museum, but it is carefully arranged. The history of perls, the "production" and the different qualities are explained. The museum is for free.
