Create an itinerary including Tomb of King Pomare V
Take in a piece of Tahitian history at Tomb of King Pomare V, the final resting place of the island's last monarch. Pomare V (1839-1891) originally ordered that the tomb be built for his mother, Queen Pomare IV, but towards the end of his life, he had her remains exhumed and arranged for his own to be interred there. Set just back from the sea, the tomb's coral rocks are now covered in foliage, and its red wood embellishments are faded--both reminders of the monarchy's grandiose history and the passage of time. By using our Papeete trip planner, you can arrange your visit to Tomb of King Pomare V and other attractions in Papeete.

  • Came on a cruise. We were on a tour and stopped here. Nothing very special. Would not go out of my way to see it.

  • Important addition to the regular sightseeing on Tahiti. Unfortunately, there was just one small sign showing the way to this tomb; at the location any additional information is missing

  • The tomb is nice, but seen in the blink of an eye. Locals who were cleaning it said that it is "a tabu" and can't be visited inside.
  • natural can be seen up close
  • A little disappointing site... A monument placed in the middle of a large park and at the edge of the ocean... The visit is just visual and takes 2 minutes...
  • The monument was closed by the way I don't know if it can be visited inside but in any case it belongs to the royal dynasty of the sailor pronoun the place it is idyllic since it is next to the sea next to you find a Protestant church if you go on Sunday don't be surprised to see a lot of people around the church because that's how it is at home on Sundays in the religious family to find out more about the Monument go to Wikipedia
  • Nothing special to visit and often said to be closed
