Create an itinerary including Point Venus
Combine sunbathing with a bit of Tahitian culture and history at Point Venus, a public black-sand beach. Said to be the spot from which Captain Cook watched the planet Venus cross in front of the sun, the beach includes a monument commemorating the explorer, as well as a lighthouse designed by the father of "Treasure Island" author Robert Louis Stevenson. Take a dip in the shallow waters and gaze across the sea at the island of Moorea. With ample shade, the site also presents a great opportunity for a picnic. • This was well worth visiting if you are interested in Cooks study of the Transit of Venus, or the story of the Bounty or even if you want to see a beautiful bay and park. Lots of information...

  • Wow a must place to visit.. not only is it stunning to look out into the bay, to to take a moment and realise that both Capt Cook and HMS Bounty both landed at this point is quite a surreal moment...

  • Beautiful spot to do some easy surfing with small waves or just relax on the beach and the water. Large parking lot but quickly fills up. We passed by here and it was too difficult to find parking so we ended coming an hour or two before sunset and there were many more free parking spots.
  • Such a beautiful park! We watched the last sunset of 2022 from here before heading to the airport. Lost of historical art, light house, great beach, picnic tables. There was a restaurant and cultural center there too but closed for the day. I wish we had found it sooner in our trip.
  • Well worth a stop if touring the island. Especially if you fancy lighthouses. Beautiful place. Don't miss nearby Arahoho Blowhole.
  • Great atmosphere and very nice beach!
  • Nice beach and setting for a picnic.
