The museum is part of the Gremi citadel and worth a visit while visiting the area. Interesting artefacts and friendly staff.

Gremi - the Georgian Orthodox Cathedral is located in Kakheti, in Kvareli municipality village, in the citadel of the east of Gremi, on a high hill. It was built by the King of Kakheti, Levan in 1565. The paintings were finished in 1577. The history of Gremi, as a city, begins from XV century, when the first king of Kakheti George (1466-1476) turn it into the capital of Kakheti Kingdom. This status was maintained by Gremi for over two centuries. There were active bookish activities here and caravan roads as well. That is why it became the center of political, economic and cultural life of Kakheti.

This is an absolutely wonderful Church and we very much enjoyed the tour of the Castle museum. The church also has traditional Georgian qweri wine for sale. Highly recommended!
-
Lovely little church in Kakheti region. Lots of history. You get to visit an old museum and also try wines from a very very old cellar. Stay for sunset as it’s when Gremi looks the most beautiful
-
Castle and an ancient church rest on top of a small hill. Nice views of the surroundings. There were original paintings on the wall of the church, despite they really required some renovation works.
-
A nice fortress with a church inside, has a beautiful view on the mountains. You can pay to enter the castle itself and also for a guide to get a small tour inside.
