Regarded as one of the country's most elegant squares, Gendarmenmarkt is dominated by two domed cathedrals and the city's renowned concert hall. The square was created in the 17th century, then massively reconstructed and expanded in 1773 by architect Georg Christian Unger. This public space was named after an 18th-century regiment consisting of French Huguenot immigrants, whose story you can explore at the museum inside the imposing French cathedral. Though many of the historic structures were damaged or destroyed during World War II, the buildings have since been fully restored. Be sure to climb the cathedrals' towers for views of the historic parts of the city. The markets here for Christmas are far better than the one’s that visit the UK. Lots of shopping, eating & drinking option. All very festive.

This is the best Christmas market i've seen in Berlin! There's lots of food options and gift shops. There are some indoor seating restaurants/pubs inside too, if you can't handle the cold winter.

This is one of my favorite Christmas market in Berlin and in Germany. I like the whole set up and decoration of the stalls. There is also live music performance which I enjoyed very much. Because of Covid they asked for your vaccination pass. Also prepare one euro for the entry. Overall it was an awesome experience

This is a very nice square with some beautiful, big buildings like the concert hall, churches... It is also a nice place to come and sit on a bench. Or with children because there is a lot of place for them to safely run around.

this is where the rascals from the villages come to play the game of cops and robbers with the municipal tasks. it's a big place that's great for hiding because there are no trees at all. Even the pretty fountain offers little privacy. it's fun when you have to count more than ten to get out of sight of the other person

€1 entry fee with no queue to enter. The location had changed to Babelplatz (I think that’s the name) due to construction in the original area, but I found it easily enough. The vibe was great, very authentic and German. A bit pricey, but that’s what you expect at the city market. The crepes and bratwurst were such winners, despite the price.

It was a normal day, but it has something breathtaking within! I really love looking at this airy place! A lot of space, a lot of beautiful architecture. I can feel the calm there simultaniously feeling the seriousness of the history that happened there.
