An ever-expanding shopping and commercial area, Potsdamer Platz was once trapped in the no-man's-land dividing East and West Germany. At one of the busiest traffic intersections on the continent, the square now attracts visitors with its ultra-modern glass and steel architecture. This spot marks the point where the old road from Potsdam once passed through the city wall of Berlin. Almost totally destroyed during World War II, the square became the largest European building site in the 1990s. Near the square, you can explore a cluster of cultural buildings filled with museums, theaters, and art galleries. Not a glimpse of the former glamor of this place. While it was the center of Berlin and a busy place in the 1920s, it is a standard accumulation of glass, steel and concrete. Like everywhere else in..... more

Potsdamer Platz is a very modern part of the city with a great range of restaurants and shops. In November to December there is a pleasant Christmas Market. Easy to get there on the S-Bahn.

A lovely area and great architectural views. A nice place to stop for a visit when exploring Berlin or have a bite to eat and a drink.

Have been here countless times and I am glad to see the frequency is picking up again after the pandemic. Lots of hotels, restaurants, coffee places in walking distance, a giant movie theatre at the nearby SONY centre (where you may run into a a premiere with a Hollywood star from time to time) and easy access via public transportation make this one of the countless Berlin highlights for both visitors and local residents. I highly recommend coming here with a coffee to go and take a stroll around.

We went there for the architectural part and we loved it. There are 3 glass-office buildings and the main square is incredible, specially went they turn in the lights.

This central plaza has a few panels of the Berlin Wall as an educational symbol for the Cold War and a reminder of people who lost their lives and their freedom during 1961-1989. “Imagine” by John Lennon rings in your mind! 🙏🙏🙏

It is very nice that some of the wall is still standing. It shows us how big it was and what impact it must have made on the decided city. Also nice that were the wall is removed, they have made marks on the road.

An important landmark of Berlin. Area around it is abuzz with activities. Several historical monuments are in vicinity. It also place to hang out and enjoy dining in some of the finest and popular restaurants of Berlin. During Christmas it is host to a Christmas market too.
