  • Part of old Roman Cologne. All that's left is the stone frame of a gateway the size of a doorway. The gate is in the Cathedral area, but otherwise don't go out the way to visit. There's not much to see.
  • The still visible remains of the Roman north gate on the Domplatte were originally part of the Roman city wall, which was then located at this place. Here, the inner-city cardo maximus began. In 1971, a replica of the gate part was erected on the cathedral plate as a freely accessible showpiece and immediately became a tourist attraction. The original of the middle arch with the initials of Cologne as Roman Colonia (CCAA) is exhibited in the Roman Germanic Museum.
