Part of old Roman Cologne. All that's left is the stone frame of a gateway the size of a doorway. The gate is in the Cathedral area, but otherwise don't go out the way to visit. There's not much to see.

The still visible remains of the Roman north gate on the Domplatte were originally part of the Roman city wall, which was then located at this place. Here, the inner-city cardo maximus began. In 1971, a replica of the gate part was erected on the cathedral plate as a freely accessible showpiece and immediately became a tourist attraction. The original of the middle arch with the initials of Cologne as Roman Colonia (CCAA) is exhibited in the Roman Germanic Museum.
