This is a must do in Dresden. We were here as a part of a tour group, and I am not usually an art museum guy, but the works displayed here are fantastic, and I really can't fathom the skill and time..... more

A must do in Dresden, wish we had allowed more time and known before just what old treasures are kept there. Think we were allowed photos, just no flash cameras, normal for museums? If we get back...

Even if you are not a museum lover, you would definitely love it. All those jewelry collections are simply stunning. Buy ticket in advance.. Must visit. Taking pictures are not allowed.

The most interesting part of this museum is the room of green diamonds 41 carats. So amazing stone with beautiful sparkling light.

It was amazing, best weapons collection I have ever seen!

.... mass of jewels, riches, sculptures, huge collections and very ornate precious items. It shows how one family or monarch can indulge in such extravagance while the normal people of the time were trying to survive. Not unlike most cultures I have seen. Good that these items are now shared for all to see...

The Green Vault is a must when you visit Dresden. Reconstructed after the 1945 bombing, the Vault houses the treasury of the Kingdom of Saxony. There you can appreciate the Old masters art, carved in several materials(Gold, silver, Âmbar, Bronze, precious stones, ivory, etc) The audio guide is included in the ticket price and it explains the several unique pieces that are present in the Vault. If you are nearby, take to opportunity to visit the rest of the palace, since it's well worth it.
