A museum complex that holds some of Dresden's most valuable artwork, Royal Palace (Residenzschloss) is also an art library with more than 260,000 volumes on art history. The massive complex is an all-day affair that includes both the palace and the Green Vault. The palace was the home of the electors and the kings of Saxony for almost half a millennium, and their history is laced through the many rooms and exhibits. The Gallery of the Electors and the Hausmannsturm are in the castle's largest tower. View the collection of prints, drawings, and photographs on display, as well as the Dresden State Art Collection. The armory has an impressive selection of historical weaponry, including a Turkish chamber with mother-of-pearl inlay artifacts. Tickets are sold separately for the two tours, but you can purchase a combined ticket for a small discount. See Royal Palace (Residenzschloss) and all Dresden has to offer by arranging your trip with our Dresden trip itinerary website.

We were very disappointed our tour guide didn’t advise us we had to give up all personal items including our only winter clothing in the cloak room. Afterwards we discovered there were lockers...

Large castle with a lot of rooms. Prepare to spend 3 - 5 hours easily to see all parts of it. Also one thing to note you can’t enter with large bags (my small backpack got rejected by security) get your valuables with you or leave it at hotel

Very nice place to visit. You can imagine the Royal's life in the good old day. Many treasures are well kept and exhibited to the public. One afternoon in the royal palace is probabley not enough.

There is so much to see and watch, it all depends what you want to see. 3-4 hours is neccessary. Green vault is with guides other sections of museum you can visit you own. I liked sgraffito technique courtyard,m als you can climb to the tower and watch over the Dresden Oldtown. A lot wepons, clothes, monetary and so on. Information service works great, i was not a clue how much i can visit, they made suggestions and i was able visit a lot... ok not all sections of museum but enough. One must do in Dresden
