Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, once an old, abandoned coal and steel production plant, is now a public park. Woven together by walkways and waterways that are former railway and sewer systems, the ironworks now hosts cultural and corporate functions. You can delve into an old gasometer that now serves as Europe's biggest manmade diving center. Walk through alpine climbing gardens that have been created in ore storage bunkers, or venture on the high ropes course that was once a casting house. For views of the meadows and waterways of the park, climb the extinguished blast furnace--now a viewing tower. Spend some time in the middle of the former steel mill, which has been made into a piazza, or rent a bike to explore the site. Guided tours are available, or you can explore on your own. Children may enjoy the huge tube slide going through two ore bunkers, and the open hall for skating and mountain biking. • Well reconstructed steel mill site and interesting boulder track in the old concretete construction. Poor directions signs so ask for a map at the Tourist Office in Duisburg. Uninterested...

  • Former steel factory now a very nice park. They did a great job of maintaining it and made many of the spaces accessible with just a few design tweaks. Exploring on your own is enjoyable. You can climb up to the top of one of the towers to get a view of the area while learning about the previous factory processes.
  • A landscape park different from what we generally visit. The huge factory buildings in contrast with the greens make a beautiful combination. You can climb on one of the towers/Chimneys and have a good glimpse of the town. It’s one of a kind experience and a must visit.! A place that can be enjoyed by everyone.
  • I think this place, which used to be a forge, was closed due to high costs and expensive labor. It was opened to visitors after the necessary precautions were taken. It has been turned into a public park. From the top of the tower, the whole of North Rhine Fesvalism is visible. It also has a cinema for children where old videos of the park and the forge are broadcast. Moreover, you can see amazing lights at night.

  • Essential visit if you're ever in the Duisburg area. Never disappoints. Amazing and unique place to visit. Better when it's not raining as there are lots of stairs to climb, if you're not afraid of heights, well worth the views. We visited the afternoon of Tuesday 26.07.22, after Zoo Zajac which is nearby. History everywhere, can visit multiple times and see something new every time as we have. There's a shop for souvenirs and a cafe, also a pommes Bude (takeaway chip van which does fast food). Recommend for couples and families alike. Free entry, open till 6pm.
