Create an itinerary including Berggarten
Part of one of the largest botanic garden complexes in Europe, Berggarten is a sprawling natural world sheltering hundreds of colorful native and exotic plants. Created in 1666, the garden was long used for breeding experiments of various plants not native to the northern climate of Lower Saxony. Though the experiment failed in its attempt to grow rice, it was successful in the cultivation of tobacco and mulberry. The garden now contains several historic conservatories, most of which were built in the 19th century to house one of the biggest collections of palm trees in all of Europe. In 2000, a state-of-the-art greenhouse was opened, designed to display plants normally found in the rainforest. This indoor tropical landscape contains more than just plants, as different species of tropical butterflies and birds have also been introduced and incorporated into the protected environment. • Having my tropical plants, it's great to have a walk very close to nature. Wonderful experience. Quite specious for a long walk.

  • Great garden, huge variety of flora. Definitely worth 1-2 hours to explore if you are in Hannover.
  • That was a very nice place that I recommend everybody to visit mind. One time. That look really nice.
  • Take a few hours to linger around at this broad and beautiful garden, with rich selection of plants and flowers. First wonder through all the various corners and attractions and then chill on one of the hidden corners scattered inbetween the landscapes, especially recommended where the wild flowers are. Only 3,5€ admission, totally worth it.
  • As always a wonderful experience in my favorite garden in Hannover... A unique garden with seasonal change, and great variety from the desert greenhouses to prairie grass hill, the ponds, the bamboo, and the running brooks... A beautiful and peaceful place where one can easily spend 1-2 hours walking through.
  • What an amazing place! It is perfect with kids as well as long as you watch them so that they don’t pick flowers. Which is hard! Anyway, go there to marvel at the greatness and diversity of nature, to stroll around, to meditate or to write poems. Smell the citrus flowers and root for the busy bees.
