Marktkirche, Hannover

Probably one of the noticeable landmarks in Hanover. It is a great starting point when traveling around the city. During the summer time, there is a beach court and some recreational activities outside. You cannot miss this church when visiting Hanover.

Though the place has a history but architecture wise I did not find it very intriguing as compared to churches in Spain and Italy built around same time. You may find it interesting to visit if you like historical and old buildings regardless of the architecture.

It is an impressive and captivating place with its splendor, scale and architecture. Free admission. Inside you can find chairs and listen to live church music. I attended an organ concert and Frank Schult's painting exhibition in this church. A powerful, inspiring organ sound that shakes the imagination, combined with technically perfect images of Frank Schult, creates an unforgettable atmosphere. June 21, 2022, Fete de la Musique, 17:25, performance by the female choir Vocalinda. Performing with women is a wonderful experience. A very beautiful and spacious church. The staffs are very nice and friendly people. Organ music is often performed in the evenings.

The Market Church (German: Marktkirche, meaning 'church at the market place') is the main Lutheran church in Hanover, Germany. Built in the 14th century, it was referred to in 1342 as the church of Saints James and George (Latin: ecclesia sanctorum Jacobi et Georgii) in dedication to Saint James the Elder and Saint George.[1] Replacing an older, smaller, church at the same location that dated to 1125 and that is known to have been called St. Georgii (after Saint George) in 1238,[1][2] Hanover grew around it and the market place situated immediately adjacent to its south that was established around the same time.[3]: 3  Today the official name of the church is Market Church of Saints George and James (Marktkirche St. Georgii et Jacobi), and along with the nearby Old Town Hall is considered the southernmost example of the northern German brick gothic architectural style (norddeutsche Backsteingotik).
