Create an itinerary including The New Town Hall
Built in 1913, The New Town Hall is the seat of the city mayor. The striking building is reminiscent of a centuries-old castle. The lobby features four scale models of Hannover as it was in the Middle Ages, before World War II, after the destruction of 1945, and how the city looks today. After you explore the rest of the building's ornately decorated rooms, you can take the elevator up to the dome. From its 100 m (328 ft) high observation deck, you can see the whole city and--on clear days--even the Harz Mountains. The town hall is also home to a restaurant serving regional and international cuisine. Use our Hannover trip planner to arrange your visit to The New Town Hall and other attractions in Hannover.

One of the must-see attractions in Hannover. Inside there are...

  • In every angle, this city hall will always deliver a photo perfect view. You can go inside and explore this architecture or go wander outside and walk around the mini lake. During summer, you will see a lot of people enjoying their time having picnic on the garden or chit chatting with their friends and loved ones.
  • The New Town Hall of Hanover is an absolutely stunning and historic building that is not to be missed. From the moment you set eyes on it, you are struck by its grandeur and beauty. The distinctive clock tower is a true highlight, and the views from the top are breathtaking. The inside of the New Town Hall is just as impressive as the outside. The grand hall is a true work of art, and the council chamber is a testament to the history and tradition of Hanover. The various other rooms are also worth exploring, and the guided tours are a great way to learn more about the building and its history. But the New Town Hall is more than just a beautiful building - it is also a thriving hub of activity. It is home to the Hanover city government and is used for administrative purposes, and it is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Whether you are looking to learn more about the history of Hanover or just want to enjoy a cup of coffee in a beautiful setting, the New Town Hall has something to offer. Overall, the New Town Hall of Hanover is an absolute must-see. It is a beautiful and historic building that is sure to impress anyone who visits. Don't miss out on the opportunity to explore this amazing landmark.
  • A great place … the central hall was pointed out to us buy a member of the tourist information. He also recommended a book The Red Thread . Which then had us on a tourist route , great help and well worth the 3€. The main reason for visit was to ascend the (not straight)lift to the top of the tower , absolutely fantastic and views were as you would expect perfect.
  • One of the few good places to visit in Hannover. The entrance to the building is free but it is closed on weekends. The building itself is very beautiful and a nice instagramable spot 😉. I did not find it very crowded. You have an option to have a city view from the top as well.
  • It is a city hall and was opened 1913, after having been under construction for 12 years. It is a wonderfull, castle-like building of the era of Wilhelm II in eclectic style at the southern edge of the inner city.
