The original tower, built by the British in 1871, was replaced by this structure in the 1930s. • When in Accra, a visit to Jamestown is a must. Jamestown is an old settlement where time seems to stand still. Although the place is quite degraded, it offers the visitors suggestive corners...

  • It would have been amazing to explore this historical place, but once we left our taxi, local "guides" jumped to us and they were very pushy and very rude. They didn't allow us to go downstairs too. Maybe one day this will be amazing place to visit, but not now. I will add pictures to show "reality", because some of the pictures looks nothing like this place, it's extremely dirty. It's a historical place, it should be kept better and respected way more.
  • Great Experience ❤️ with Eco Tour Ghana 🇬🇭. Contact Mr Noisty on +233 558712206. We had the best community tour and shopping 🛍 at the Makola market. 🇬🇭 you need a guide for your safety and security 😍. Don’t forget to book with Eco tour ghana 🇬🇭 for the best and yet affordable package 🇺🇸❤️.
  • This is located in the Jamestown neighborhood of Accra, Ghana. The 28-metre structure was originally built in the 1930s, replacing an earlier lighthouse that had been built in 1871. It consists of a stone tower with lantern and gallery, attached to a keeper's house. Both lighthouse and keeper's house are painted with red and white horizontal bands.Did you know that just around the lighthouse were tunnels which were used in transporting slaves to the James Fort n the likes.
  • They were under maintenance when I visited, so I couldn’t go in however I took pictures of the exterior, there was a tour guide that told us about the history
  • Street vibe, colorful atmosphere and the people of James town are very friendly
