According to local legend, the goddess Athena regularly bathed in Lake Voulismeni. Renowned internationally for its curative powers, the lake is located in one of Crete's more relaxed seaside towns. The circular body of water is 64 m (210 ft) deep and only 134 m (440 ft) wide. Fed from below by a natural hot spring, the water maintains a constant temperature around 25 C (77 F), and contains high levels of elements that relieve ailments like neuralgia, arthritis, and sciatica. If you are staying in Agios you will definitely go around the lake. It is good both day and night time, and you will of course climb the little hill to have the best view over the town and the bay

The place to go. Walk by the lake and also up the hill, where you can see far away to the sea. Nice view day or night. Good restaurants all around the lake. The shops are near.

It seems that it is not a lake, it is just a small bay or kind of laguna connected with the sea. But it looks beautiful. There are lot of cozy restaurants around. A nice place to have a quality meal.

A very beautiful place with a nice small lake but very special, because it's twisting and connecting to the sea and beside the lake, there are very nice, romantic and authentic buildings. Also, it is very recommended to climb up the stairs and watch from above the lake.

We stopped here after visiting Spinalonga and it was worth the 15 mins. Beautiful lake, lots of restaurants to choose from and some lovely shops to investigate in the back streets.
