Lighthouse of Chania, Chania Town

It’s definitely worth it to take the walk to the Chania lighthouse, not as much for the destination itself but for the wonderful views along the way, both of the sea and the city. The walk is only 15 minutes long, but it will of course take longer because you’ll stop for pictures many times. It’s also kid friendly. I’d recommend walking on the wall itself if you’re visiting during the hot hours of the day, as the sea breeze will make it easier to endure the heat 😀

This is a nice short walk out on the breakwater to the lighthouse with views of the sea and of the Venetian harbour all along. There’s a small fort structure which is inaccessible on the inside, but which you can walk along/climb the stairs for a nice lookout and some shade mid-route.

The lighthouse wasn't open when we went (25th August 2022). The walk to it and the views, however, are outstanding. The surrounding sea is crystal clear and the port has numerous restaurants, bars and shops around it. A great place to visit.

Really beautiful place. The recognition of Chania. Specifically if you come here in the evening the lights make it more romantic. there are restaurants and bars all around the Harbour areas.

It was a very beautiful walk along the ancient walk towards the lighthouse, the view of the old city was astonishing, lots of big waves crashing into the old walls
