  • Still run by the Greek army, it was good to learn of the history of Crete in WWII and earlier. Very interesting range of weapons on display. Lovely location at the top of the hill, with cicadas...

  • We visited as this is a stop on the hop on hop off bus. It’s good for the hour long stop with a curated selection of Crete’s WWI and WWII history. Our 8 year old really enjoyed it! Just remember it.....  more

  • It would have been nice if we would find it open. Went there at 12:30 am and there was a sign stating that they would be closed today the 15 the of August. The difference was that our day was the 14th of August... It seems that the public employees left after the bus tour for a day and a half vacation ! The collection ( that mr. A.Vrailas had collected in Goudi), outside the museum is worth seeing.
  • A very interesting visit to the military museum, which, btw, where free at the time of our visit. Outside the museum you can see some of the bigger vehicles used en the Crete army, for example the Huey which are still operational today. Inside the museum a lot if different equipment is shown and described. There is also a small historical stories about the defence of Greek/Crete in WW2 and to smaller extend stories back to WW1. When we entered the museum we got the offer that one of the veterans supervising could give a tour, we kindly declined the offer, but it was a nice offer.
  • Smal museum but an accurate display on the events that happened during WW2. Inpressive collection of uniforms, weapons and vehicles. Friendly staff and even free coffee for the visitors.
  • A great effort by the HEL Army. Dedicated mostly to WWII and Balkan War The building was granted by the locals to the Greek Army in 1997 and is home to military and war-related exhibits that cover a wide chronological range. The items include weapons, uniforms, medals and military equipment from the Venetian era, the Hellenic Revolution of 1821, the Macedonian Liberation Wars, the World War II etc.
  • Great place to know about history of Crete...free entrace...only donations...
