  • Part of the archaeological site. Viewable on the way to the temple of apollo - impressive and informative. Worth taking some time to read the placard provided.

  • This structure was used as an offering to the Pythia, the high priestess by the Athenians. Much of it is in tact with parts of it restored. It sits close to the temple of Apollo. You will not miss it as you are coming up the complex towards the temple. There are panels describing the treasury and its significance.
  • Delphi Complex is must see... Go early, the toir groups are usually there for 930 10am... you dont want to be behind the tour groups. For those with mobility issues Please BECAREFUL, the main path is slippery due to wear of the marble after centuries and the the rest is loss rocks. The walk up to the top for the stadium is at a grade. When there stop and look put over the scared olive groove that have been in the same place for thousands of years and still scared!
  • Treasury and temple of Apollo are awsome.
  • The Treasury of the Athenians had enough of its original building material preserved to allow for its almost complete reconstruction. Designed to hold the multitude of Athenian offerings to the Delphi oracle. The building was constructed entirely of Parian marble and had a Doric frieze decorated with 30 metopes. To the left of the treasury, in a highly visible triangular area the Athenians displayed the actual spoils from the battle of Marathon. A large inscription at its front described what the visitors were witnessing: "The Athenians to Apollo from the spoils of the Persians at the Battle of Marathon."
  • In front of it, is a huge stone that looks like the tip of a bullet! Well, actually it is! But just not of humans, but of Zeus, the Greek God! He shot it from the heavens to find the centre of the earth!!! It was originally decorated with woolen yarns & semi-precious stones. Its called the Omphalos.
