  • It took us around 50 minutes to get here on the tram from Syntagma Square. The journey was interesting as we got to see other neighbourhoods in Athens. The weather was unusually warm for early...

  • A nice free beach with umbrellas and a lifeguard. The water is very clear and nice for a swim but like most beaches in Greece it's rocky, not sandy. I feel like there is no need for special swimming.....  more

  • Glyfada beach is a series of beaches spread along the coast southeast of Athens. Each of those beaches is numbered and they're set in small bays. You can reach them by tram, bus or self driving with plenty of free parking spaces along them. Most of them are sandy, but some are rocky, specially when you enter the sea. Have in mind all those beaches are free and they come with free umbrellas, lifeguard on duty, benches and shower facilities, and all are rewarded with a blue flag. Not so bad for free, wouldn't you agree ?? For those looking for more organized beaches, there're several paying ones along the same coast, but be prepared for 5-10 Euros for parking and minimum 10 Euros pp entry fee
  • We had a lovely time in the beach. It's free, clear and no visible trash anywhere. It's not crowded, we had a nice place under a (free) beach umbrella. There are showers, life guard, benches, changing room - all in all great experience.
  • Ranked first among beaches in Glyfada, it is not much different from the others (rocky shore, not so soft sand). The big plus is that it is situated in a narrow bay, so the descending is not so steep.
  • I guess it depends on what you want. The beach is just ok, quite rocky, but the water is clear and clean. Close to the bus stop and you can definitely find a less busy spot to sit.
  • A lovely little beach. Not too many stones and nice sand. Perfect water. There are no amenities other than a shower (no toilets, bars, cafes), but perfect if you take your own stuff. FREE to enter also (paying for a beach entry?!?!?!). Well worth a trip from Athens using the tram
