Perfect place in the perfect town

Superb hike for lovers of walking and wide open spaces. However, we found little recent information about the hike along the rack railway in the gorges. We hiked halfway from Diakopto to Zachlorou station, 12.5km (you can do the entire 22km hike to Kalavritra). The difficulty of the hike is mainly between km 6 and 8 where the elevation is significant and the ballast (stones around the railway) increase the difficulty on the slope. You can also do it in the other direction and the hike will then be mainly downhill. Good shoes and a minimum of physical condition necessary if you want to do it in 3 hours as indicated at the station. Pay attention to the train schedules which are rare. In addition, the ticket must be purchased at Diakopto station if you plan to return by train. For the route, just follow the railways so as not to get lost, be careful of the tunnels at the end of the route, you will not be able to pass through them at the same time as the train. Hike made in mid-September with very few tourists. (PS: a little swim on the beach of Diakopto, to cool off after this hike)

We crossed the jagged on 27/11/2022 .. The scenery is magical, the passages in the rocks, the tunnels, the flyovers, small beautiful waterfalls..
