Apithano Honey Museum-Tasting & Tours, Melidoni

Amazing place! You need to speak a little bit English so they can give you a tour. The girl who gave us the tour was very nice and sweet. She told us about the history, about the bees and honey making and how they do it. We tasted three different kinds of money they make, two nut spreads with honey and two drinks. You can buy everything and also jewellery with bees and honey their friend makes. After the tour you can sit outside and have a coffee. We lived it here.

Wonderful museum guided by a beautiful person. They have done a great job and can show samples of old hives, made of mud and straw and later by clay to modern wooden ones. You get to see a modern apiary as well and then taste the wonderful honey they have for sale! Great visit!

Absolutely wonderful - must check out if you get the chance. Katarina was an excellent tour guide, she was very informative, charming, and kind! We had plenty of questions and she answered joyfully. The honey is also delicious! This is run by a small family and you can tell they care for the land and their customers. Please go and support them!

Beautiful little, privat museum about the local honey production. The family is obviously putting love and effort into everything and the result is a delicious product and a beautiful honey store with a little exhibition.

A very enthusiastic and knowledgeable young lady told us about the history of honey making, it being one of Crete's major historical export products. You won't see the bee colonies but will see the small factory and ancient to modern ways of producing honey. Includes tasting in a shop. Good stuff.
