Plathiena Beach, Milos

Best beach day on Milos! IMHO, this beach does not get the credit it deserves. Our map was marked with “best beaches” we had noted from a variety of sources - this beach was not even on the list. But we happened to notice it while enjoying the view from the hilltop town of Plaka located close by. We drove down to the beach - lots of parking (some creative), easily accessible bathroom with shower (well water), cafe with drinks and snacks - all located directly across from the beach. Several changing stations available. The water is as good as it gets!! CLEAR. Emerald green gives way to cobalt blue. Great snorkeling along the adjacent cliffs. You can wade out to mid-chest deep for about 50 yards out. I look forward to visiting it again!

Beach was a lot quieter than the others around the island. We went and got 2 sun beds but when we left, the guy from the little restaurant charged us 18 euros. Just be aware. They have toilets & showers available. Beach itself is nice.

The drive in was narrow and rough but worth it for the spectacular beach. There are parking spaces but they are limited so get there early for easy parking (before 10:30 or so). We rented 2 chairs with umbrellas and a table for €18. That was a bit pricey. However, it was really comfortable and nice to get some shade. You can also stay at the beach and not rent chairs.

Dreamy and quiet sandy beach with a little bar serving nice drinks and snacks. The beach isn’t a great size, in a semi sheltered cove which is good on the (often) windy Milos days. The beach is nice and sandy, not very big but has a tree line to the back to offer cover on hot days. There’s a life guard and the depth of the water is shallow and smooth gradient of depth so good for not super strong swimmers. We had a frozen margarita at the bar which was refreshing and strong, they even called a taxi for us. Recommended!

Spent 4 days on Milos and this was our favorite beach. Soft sand and clear water that stays shallow far out from the beach. Most other beaches are more rocks. Wind is important on Milos - as long as it’s from the opposite direction this is a must visit beach.
