  • Really lovely piece of history, with a great view of Naxos town behind! Recommendation would be to get up and go for sunrise - there a zero people there and it is beautiful.

  • A beautiful place to take a sit and admire the sunset 🌅 Definitely I’d you want good pictures you must go there. The environment is good, the views are incredible and the see looks perfect 🤩 Definitely you have to visit it within the first days during your staying here
  • This can’t be missed on a visit to Naxos. It is a stunning huge marble gate situated near the Harbour. We visited in early May on a bright sunny day and we were fortunate to have the surrounding area to ourselves. It is fenced but only close up so you have plenty of space to wander around it. No cost to visit. This marble gate is the remaining part of an unfinished temple of Apollo of 530 BC, is the island’s emblem and main landmark. Apparently the four parts of the gate weigh about 20 tons. We are hoping to go back to see it also at sunset before we leave.
  • Can’t be missed if your visiting Naxos. The history behind the temple is that people destroyed the temple but the door (the part that we see now) was to heavy to take away so it had to stay there. The temple is so beautiful in the sunset when the sun goes inside the door.
  • the remains of the temple of Apollo, unfinished and later reused as a quarry for the construction of the Venetian tower. the lintel and the jambs of the Naxos entrance, located to the west instead of to the east (as is usual in this type of Ionic temples), are remarkable. the views of the sunset are impressive, as well as the panoramic view of the city of Xora and the rest of the islands
  • One of the most beautiful places to see the sunset and get amazing photos of the island! During sunset hours, it’s quite busy with tourists but it’s worth the visit.
