The museum which sprawls over six acres, is divided into two main sections: the museum of contemporary Greek art and the folk art museum, both of which house collections that cover at least 2500 years of Greek history. The whole complex is laid out in a way that showcases the Greek spirit in a unique fashion. In the contemporary part, one of the most important and representative collections of its kind in the world is exhibited, comprising paintings, installations and sculptures by leading Greek artists, displaying a Greek interpretation of most of the international artistic currents of the second half of the 20th century.A visit to Mouseio Vorre represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Paiania journey builder tool to plot your vacation.
The folk art section, is an extraordinary complex of 19th century buildings, courtyards and gardens or rather a re-adaptation and readjustment of traditional Greek architectural features housing antiquities, icons, ceramics, popular artifacts and objects used in daily Greek life centuries ago, in a manner, revealing their inherent beauty and their practical use.
The gardens, wild and consisting almost entirely of Mediterranean flora are an indispensable part of the museum being described by many as the most beautiful gardens in Athens.

This museum tells history and showcases the traditional Greek culture. It also treated us to Classical Greek 3-course delicacies.

It looks like the modern art has deteriorated to some extent compared to the ancient… the garden of the museum is really great, so cosy and so Greek full of statues

Fascinating place, guided tour was excellent, really put everything in context. Makes a perfect change from ancient greece.

No words can describe this museum. I could never imagine that paiania is hiding such a place. I will only say that you need to visit. And don't forget to have a cup of coffee and walk all over the outside space they have. You think that you are living in the past....

Wonderful museum and venue to organise any kind of corporate or private event. The biggest hall can host up to 600 pax. Charming place, outside Athens but very easy to find, parking area next to it. A really professional team there will help to organise your event in collaboration with an incentive house and event company (like mine for example)

Collections of historic objects and modern art works displayed correspondingly in the historic part and the modern part of the building. The guide was excellent; however, the museum needs more thorough heritage interpretation as it can niche many interesting stories. The coffee shop is very nice and can be visited regardless of the visit to the museum itself.
