Create an itinerary including Aristotelous Square
The city's main plaza, Aristotelous Square is well known for the important political speeches and rallies that took place on-site over the years. The plaza was constructed in 1918 following the destruction of much of Thessaloniki during the Great Fire of 1917. However, when you visit, many of the buildings you'll see are from the 1950s. Head to the bustling square to get a coffee from one of the many cafes and people-watch, or watch one of the cultural events that take place here often. Check online to see if any special festivals or markets line up with your schedule. Put Aristotelous Square at the forefront of your travel plans using our Thessaloniki online trip itinerary builder.

  • I loved the feeling of openness to the sea... it's amazing! We followed tradition and touched Aristotels large toe so we will most definitely return to Greece!
  • Really busy and buzzing Square full of action. There is a cinema nearby, the lovely beach, shops and restaurants alike, making it a hot-spot for tourists. Thoroughly enjoyed the area, stretching further to other busy spots without noticing the walk. I'd suggest walking around and searching your preferences on Google Maps to find the right food place, though I'd strongly suggest traditional restaurants. Checkout my reviews of restaurants in Thessaloniki. There are loads of things to see and do around.
  • Place is nice, lot of stores around. Next to the sea. From here everything is super close.
  • Nice square, statue of Aristotel being the main attraction. Vodka bottle shape is a nice fun trivia about this place.
  • You can enjoy the sunset from here. Whole Thessaloniki is with you around 8 pm. Very good restaurants and bars around
