A crater lake within an extinct volcano, its 12 ha (29.6 ac) expanse is blanketed with rich vegetation and framed by the dramatic backdrop of the majestic Mount Qua Qua. Choose from a selection of hiking trails, ranging in difficulty and length, all of which immerse you amongst lush jungle, waterfalls, and wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for Mona monkeys, which inhabit the forest canopy. Consider taking a guided tour around the lake.     It was beautiful and peaceful. Was thankful for finding a cool area in the island. Not into touching and imprinting wildlife but the monkeys were quite amusing.

    I’m not sure if I missed something with Grand Etang Lake. We drove up, jumped out, had a look, saw some fish being fed by other visitors and that was it. It was a lake. We were visiting waterfalls...
