Get a taste of everyday life in Georgetown at Stabroek Market, one of the busiest places in the city. Locals come here every day, either selling items to make a living or buying items for their household. Built in 1808, the market ranks among the city's oldest buildings still in use. The predominantly red and white structure features a clock tower reminiscent of the Victorian British style of architecture. At this expansive market (one of the country's largest) you can shop for fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and meats, clothing, and confectionary items. This is the biggest market in Guyana, but it has been so very poorly maintained for the past so many years that it has always been a major struggle to visit there for normal trouble free...

If you enjoy local markets, you will not be disappointed as this market offers a huge variety of items. It is pretty busy outside as buses run by the front of the market.

Heard it is dangerous and to be careful, so I was quick with my moves in and out. It's a good depiction of hustle and bustle day to day living hard work and barter. You walk right into the market from the city and can interact or see lots of locals working and talking. A good pls e if you want to buy cheap goods too but I we to to observe life as a local market vendor and shopper.

I visited Stabroek Market in Guyana and it was a great experience! The market has a lot of different vendors with a variety of products. I was able to find everything I was looking for and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend visiting Stabroek Market if you're in the area!

Fantastic place to shop, market has pretty much anything you need. However it's been in need of a renovation for some time now, it's not in very good shape. Also, there is alot of thieves in here and in the surrounding areas, so be careful. I followed a friend once to buy a phone and someone followed us and robbed us the phone. Drugs are also sold here, and black market/stolen items are also sold in certain areas. Hand truck operators are very rude and would run you over if you don't pay attention and give them right of passage. Place is over crowded in the afternoon.

Fresh fruits and vegetables, tasty food, you can even buy your groceries, meats, outfits, footwear right here. But be careful of your surroundings and don't wear jewelry. Definitely don't pull out all your cash infront of anybody. Lol
