Create an itinerary including The Guyana National Zoo
See over 100 species of tropical and exotic wildlife at The Guyana National Zoo, including the main tourist draws, the manatees and harpy eagles. You'll have the opportunity to see lots of interesting animals up close, which may especially delight younger visitors. The zoo focuses on conservation and education, and many of its residents are rescue animals. That said, approach with caution if seeing animals in captivity at a zoo in relative disrepair is likely to upset. • Pleasantly surprised by the Georgetown zoo. The entry price was not high at all. There are quite some different animals and most seem to have okay cages. The big cats and some animals that are there have been rescued. Still, the monkeys and most birds deserve some larger cages. I hope they can arrange that in the future.
  • This Zoo is a fairly small zoo with limited animals. With the outstanding fauna that is in this country, it is a shame that it cannot be a learning and teaching zoo for conservation. However I understand not have some very endangered species in captivity. On the good side the zoo does have a decent selection of big cats, and a very large Harpy Eagle.
  • This zoo is woeful and the animals are not being treated properly, many will do better if they were released into the wild. For a country with such rich wildlife, this is a shame. A revitalization project should be considered.
  • Yes it’s small, yes it’s sparse, no it’s not what you’d experience in the states or Canada. But I’d say for a Caribbean country it is a nice little experience if you’re in Georgetown with a little time to spare. Bonus the botanical garden is just on the other side.
  • We enjoyed our day here with family and friends at the Guyana Zoo. It was a nice day and we had an enjoyable time here. Our first time here.
