See a Komodo dragon, lion cub nursery, and diverse plant life at Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden, the oldest zoo park in Hungary. Founded in 1866, this zoo is actually one of the oldest in the world. Walk through the park to admire more than 1,000 species of animals. Notice the historical Art Nouveau buildings in this nature preserve, as well as several exhibits of native and exotic plants in the gardens, including the Magical Hill and America Tropicana collections. Spend some time watching the zoo's rhinos, hippopotamuses, bears, primates, and many other creatures that have inhabited the park since its reconstruction after World War II. • Be prepared to put aside at least 3-4 hours at this zoo and garden as there is a lot to see and do for the whole family. The animals are very well kept up for, and were quite sociable with other visitors. The tiger even put on a good show by roaring to the crowd for a few minutes drawing in many people. Do be aware as some of the buildings have different closing times then others. Overall this zoo and garden was fascinating for a lot of reasons, mostly due to them showcasing animals that aren’t present in many other zoos, and also their abundance of interactive exhibits for adults and children.
  • It was a very nice experience strolling around the Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden! The Spring/Summer time gave chill-cool-hot weather, which drove us to get some Ice balls to eat while walking inside the zoo. All of the animals are friendly and lovable! Though, there are some needed protection. 😊 The entire place is clean, but some parts have normal (animal) smell. So, if you are looking for a place to get your kids and entire family to have a bonding with, try to visit this zoo! 😊
  • One of the largest zoos I've ever been to. Make sure you have around 3-4 hours if you come visit. Located really close to the entry of the park and contains a couple of 'nature museums' as long as animals. The entire zoo is divided into continents that each animal comes from, and some cages are extraordinary! You can literally walk next to the eagles. Watch them feed the penguins!! They're the cutest
  • An enormous zoo with loads of animals that I hadn't seen before. To see the entire zoo you need at least 3-4 hours. The zoo is split into different regions but as there is not a designated route you do end up walking in circles a bit to go back and see animals missed. My favourite were the goats in the petting zoo, giraffes, brown bear, kangaroos, elephants and rhino. I did feel sorry for the polar bear as he looked very distressed pacing in the enclosure. He also seems to have a neck issue. There are many buildings to go inside some of these are very hot with other animals like birds, fish, monkeys etc. You could easily spend an entire day. Some animals have shows at different times but these are in Hungarian so I couldn't understand but it's cool to see the animals fed etc.
  • The whole area is huge. There’s a lot to see and a lot to do. You can spend a whole day by walking around and enjoying the animals. When you are hungry you can stop and buy something at one out of many coffee/ food stands around the zoo. There is also a cafe near the main gate. There’s also a petting zoo with tiny goats !!!
