The largest and oldest indoor market in the city, Central Market Hall, offers a variety of food, candy, spirits, and souvenir stalls. Let your mouth water as you wander the first floor of this Neo-Gothic building past fresh produce, meats, sweets, spices, liquors, and wine. The second floor houses mostly souvenir shops and eateries, and the basement features butcher shops, a fish market, and pickled goods. Built in 1897 and restored in the 1990s, this market was the idea of Budapest's first mayor, Karoly Kamermayer, and is now one of the city's biggest tourist attractions. Try local specialties, such as deep-fried lángos. To visit Central Market Hall and other attractions in Budapest, use our Budapest day trip planner.

Great food, had the Hungarian sausage and Lángos. Both great, however watch out for extra charges as it can mount up. Sausage was probably one of the best I have ever had, great use of paprika...

A beautiful and large market, intended for visiting tourists. The place is clean, tidy. On the first floor there are lots of stalls selling meat / sausage and stalls selling mainly paprika souvenirs. On the second floor lots of amazing and unique souvenirs as well as fast and delicious food stalls. The place is worth a visit. experience.

An extremely beautiful market in Budapest. Definitely a must visit for any tourist, especially to understand the culture better. There is an area serving authentic Hungarian food - that was truly an experience I enjoyed. Don't forget to try the spicy Paprika and the Goulash. Incredible stuff.

Awesome market. Its not the products but the architecture of the building. Fascinating variety of shops. For a tourist like I was, for me, it was a great place to look close into the culinary side of Hungary. Talk to local people. The sight of fresh veggies is always a pleasure.

Lots of meat, vegetables, fruits, spices, etc you can buy here at ground floor. At 1sr floor there are some restaurant where you can eat traditional Hungarian dishes. It was reasonable and so tasty. There are also many souvenir shop where you can find the wonderful present to your friend. You should not miss coming to the Central market hall when you come to Budapest. I’m sure you will be able to spend wonderful time here. Highly recommended.
