    Beautiful picturesque area! Would definitely recommend the hike through the vineyards to the ruined castle on the hill.

    A very small wine region, but an important one, with hundreds of small cellars on a striking basalt hill/mountain. In the shadow of the rich wine area of Badacsony, Somló feels a bit common, bit that’s what makes it beautiful too. There are wine terraces (and a castle ruin) on the top of the hill, but the best food you will find at the modern grotesque Kreinbacher estate, while Kolonics probably offers the best price/quality for the local grape variety juhfark. If you like hiking: there are plenty of beautiful little roads linking the cellars.

    My castle is in a beautiful location, in good condition. I strongly recommend it for cozy hiking, excursions and relaxation. There is a cultured parking lot next to St. Margaret's chapel, from where you can go to the top of the hill. The castle ruins are currently under renovation, they are not disturbing and can be visited freely. The view from there is magical.
