  • Make sure you do the climb to the top! The climb is less challenging than some of the other Iceland attractions.

  • This was a pit stop after a couple of hours on the road driving between Reykjavik and Akureyri, and what better way to stretch one's legs than climbing to the top of an extinct volcanic caldera...

  • Three neat volcano crater right next to each other. Great for a short hike on the bigger one to enjoy the view. There is a wooden staircase all the way to the top.
  • There are many craters to climb up in Iceland and this is a good one. Free to climb, unlike the Kerid crater, it is easily accessible being right by the ring road. There are plenty of stairs making the climb easier, I'm not great with heights and found it slightly vertigo inducing but there is a nice flat area if you turn left that you can stand in and enjoy the views
  • Beautiful crater with an easy and nice walk around it that allows a suggestive and complete visit from the bottom up to the top (which is a bit windy). Free parking available at the spot.
  • Such an amazing place to visit and really accessible! The view around the plain and within the crater is really worth it, especially with the great wooden path. It makes it so much more enjoyable to explore. You won't be able to get to the second crater from there, but you are able to see it from the top of this one.
  • This is a volcano crater which erupted once 3000 years ago. On a clear day there are fabulous views over the lava field and the whole area. Really beautiful views here!
