  • If you are nature beauty passionate you have to like volcanic area. And Iceland has 130 volcanic structures directly related to Iceland's location on the mid Atlantic Ridge, separating here the North America plate from Euro-Euro-asiatic ones. The island has 30 active volcanic systems, of which 13 have erupted since in the last 1300 year. One of the well known volcan os Hekla, due to jis historical eription from 1980. Hekla Centre is a small exhibition showing you the genesis of volcanoes eruptions. Original external structure of a small building hosting a restaurant and a small shopping centre. But the main merit of the Centre is close positioning to the Hekla volcanic structure, surrounded by an extra-terrestrial lava field.
  • NO HOT WATER! Also, oh god the bathrooms. It was like someone grouted the bathroom tiles with poop and pissed on them to give that unique vomit/diarrhea stench. It was 1000 ISK each for 3 of us. 2/10 would not recommend. Dog was cool though.
  • Drove all the way only to find that it’s only open to pre booked groups. Very disappointing
  • Closed today, according to the piece of paper taped to the door. 60 km of pointless driving because it's too difficult to post that on the internet as well apparently. In 2019
  • Only open for prebooked groups. Need to update open status, it’s a long way to go to see a closed gate.
