Local Travel was founded by the couple Addi and Magga who decided to share their passion for their local heritage and surrounding wilderness.

Addi has years of guiding experience and when he’s not traveling in the highlands you will probably find him by the riverbank. He’s a passioned angler and fly fishing has been a part of his life since childhood. His background is though in sales, marketing and service management.

Magga is opera singer with a Bachelor degree in tourism and diploma in event management. She is known for being a multi-tasker with experience and interest in culture and creative arts.

The company's strategy is to pursue a policy in sustainable development. Addi and Magga´s main goal is to give their guest a special experience parallel to have a positive impact on their local community. Local Travel works in cooperation and with respect for mother nature and have their own eco label called „Green hour“, where about fifteen minutes their guests are invited to reduce their footprint by planting.

Our location is at the entrance to the southern icelandic highlands with the queen of our countryside, volcano Hekla, in the front. Our Hekla tour is one of our most popular; where you will experience the black desert and lava surrounding her together with beautiful oasis that opens up in the middle of nowhere - A true wonder of Icelandic nature!

In addition to our queen Hekla the crown jewel is Landmannalaugar hot spring that you can easily add on to the Hekla tour or book "Highland special".

We specialize in guided day tours - private and custom made.

Our focus is private or small groups(1-6) to give our guest a personal service and make their tour a unique one by sharing our passion.
