Seljalandsfoss - Waterfall waterfall represents a dramatic single river that drops 60 m (200 ft) over a cave cliff. Situated between Selfoss and Skógafoss, this picturesque spot features a cave entrance that allows you to go behind the waterfall into the cave for a 360-degree view of the fall. Be prepared to get damp, as spray from the water often shoots into the cave. Treat yourself to a drink or pastry at the snack truck that is often nearby. Smaller waterfalls exist just a bit farther down the path, so if you're up for exploring, look for those as well. Put Seljalandsfoss - Waterfall on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Hella tour itinerary planner.

Walk behind the waterfall and see what is on the other side. It is a very popular, but beautiful spot. If you plan to walk behind the waterfall, plan to get wet.

Arguably one of the most glorious of Iceland’s waterfalls! Not only is it tall, powerful, and picturesque, you can also walk behind it. The views are amazing from so many vantage points, and walking up to it, and around it, is an adventure. Parking is relatively close, but the entire area around the waterfall is wet and can be slippery. Hiking shoes or something with traction is ideal. Also, if you want to get close, try and wear water proof or quick drying clothes. You will not only get wet, but you could get soaked, especially on windy days. Near the parking lot is a water closet, a place to get coffee, and a couple of shops. This place can get very crowded as it is a main attraction in Iceland. Plan on spending some time here if you want to walk around it and get some cool shots. There is also another very cool waterfall down a footpath, which is even more adventurous. For that one you need to walk in a steam and then get completely soaked by the spray once you are within the cliff walls of the falls. This is definitely a place to see!

Loved this waterfall!! So beautiful! Lots of people all the time & $7 for parking. Trail to see a couple other falls. You should have water resistant clothing and footwear.
-
Beautiful! Dress really warm with layers, good hiking waterproof shoes and waterproof coat! It was really windy when we visited the waterfalls and while walking around you receive the water. Was spectacular

I highly recommend Seljalandsfoss if you could only visit one of the many waterfalls in Iceland. There is parking (paid) nearby, you can hike underneath the Waterfall and take amazing pictures.

What a beautiful waterfall, anywhere you look you will get an incredible view. There is a large parking spot 2 mins from the waterfall. There is a small coffee shop that sells coffee, tea and a bite to eat. There are three waterfall in this area but the first one is the most majestic. You can hike behind the waterfall for some incredible views. I have gone in the morning and during sunset and it was mesmerising. Please wear waterproof clothing as you will get drenched if you go near the waterfall. Good hiking shoes are needed as the hiking path is bit muddy and definitely rocky. You can hike from rthe right side of the waterfall, walk behind and then walk down from the left side. On the left side there is a wooden staircase to come down. Have fun, these pictures will end up on your wall back home as it's so beautiful.
