Hofskirkja Church, Hof

Beautiful little church with iconic grass / moss roof. Our tour guide explained that this style of church was being created back in the old days and that this particular church is a more luxury version of it it, since it has more wood than usually. There were no other tourist busses when we were there, but I can believe it can become busy in the summer months.

Not everywhere you go do you actually get to visit such unique looking turf churches. Just got there on time before there was a bus full of tourists coming to visit. It has a small graveyard at the back of the church. Somehow, not sure if we can go in or not. Never did. Its worth checking out and is very close to the Ring Road.

A year ago I saw a picture of this church appear as my randomly selected computer background. I cried because I thought it was so beautiful. It was an emotional day. Anyways, it was a contributing factor to my decision to visit Iceland. Very peaceful and stayed by the hostel/hotel right next to it so it was easily accessible.

A cute little church, just a great attraction. I'm not usually that into churches, but still had to pay this one a visit. Easily accessible by car, won't take up much of your time. A great place for a photo :-)

Short drive from ring road. Beautiful grass church. Wer did not know it was so popular, 2 buses came shortly after us.
