Bridge Between Continents, Svartsengi

It’s worth your time to go see. There is a metal bridge over the divide. There is black sand on the ground - really think sand. It’s the type of sand you find on the beaches here. There are padlocks on the bridge starting a trend, which is nice but takes away from the beauty of the bridge. Definitely go see if you have time. If you don’t, don’t worry. It’s one you can miss and just look at the photos to not miss out.

An amazing afternoon , bridges between North America & Iceland 🇮🇸 joined 650 million years ago formed….. mighty interesting & also the hot springs near bye…. The water is 100.C can be down to 37.C just be careful of hands !!! I was going to put my hands in but when I knew…. I had change of mindset….. it is 100.C just a warning ⚠️ folks ….

Oh I loved it. It's like bridge across nothing in the middle of nothing. Just perfect. (And when you stumble in the black sand you find the "famous black beach" hype almost as funny as the icelanders. Because yes, they're all black.)

We went in January with no issues and enjoyed it. Free parking and also the bridge is free It isn’t just a bridge it Is the Bridge between continents EuroAsian and you cross to America is at 100 km for silfra the other part that you can touch both continents. Worth a visit when you’re in the area!

It's a worthwhile spot if you're interested in history and geology but it's not pretty. It's hard to take great pictures, in my opinion, because the signs aren't large enough and it looks like a dry riverbed. There is no admission or parking fees.
