Admire one of Iceland's most unique natural sites, Kerið. Formed more than six millennia ago, the volcanic crater is about 55 m (180 ft) deep and 270 m (890 ft) across. Look inside and see the aquamarine lake at the bottom, which derives its striking color from minerals in the soil. Most of the crater's moss-covered slopes are steep, but one is gentle enough to descend to the waterline. Take care when walking down, as there are no steps and the ground can be slippery. The crater is close to the road, and there is plenty of space to park nearby. It is quite a unique natural landmark with imposing colours and beautiful surrounding landscapes. It is not huge though, more of a nice short walk up and around it.

Great place to visit! Just aside the parking area. Easy to see it from above, easy to go down to water level. Very reasonable amount for ticket. Don't miss it! Absolute value for money!

This was a lovely little stop just off the road. We were there on a beautiful, sunny day and it wasn’t nearly as crowded as the waterfalls in the area. My husband and I walked around the rim at the top and around the lake at the bottom. If you have to choose, I would do the rim walk as it gives better views and the colors can look different depending on where the lighting is. You do have to pay to see it, although it is not a lot.

The Keri’s crater is a collapsed volcano. It is quite beautiful and worth the hike down. It has numerous attractive plants flowers and vegetation to see at all levels. Pro-tip west hiking boots the path can be slippery. Try to take photos from all angles.

A beautiful crater that is one of the destinations during my Golden Circle Tour in Iceland. I did the tour during the end of February or the beginning of March so it is too partially frozen. You may walk around the crater on the top to have a look at it from different directions, you may also go down the steps to get right next to the crater. It is beautiful seeing it partially frozen but also wondering how It looks like when it is bringing the summer with the green surrounding

A volcanic crater with easy access (just beside the road). You need to get tickets to enter and you can walk around and all the way down to the middle of the crater. When we visited, during the winter, water was frozen and we could stand on it (but be very careful). We could also hear our voices echoing there 😅 Overall a worthy visit and we enjoyed it.

Absolutely amazing crater. The water is a pretty green color, and you can walk down and walk around or stay above and walk around. I recommend making the trip to go down. You can see the beautiful water color. It's 500 isks per person to see it.
