It’s hard not to understate quite how special this place quiet back garden off the main ring road is. To the untrained observer it’s a large collection of stones, but every single one of these stones is a rare find in the Icelandic highlands. This vast collection was created entirely by one woman with help from friends and family - it’s an achievement that puts many major museums to shame. It’s a story of one woman and her incredible life. It was a special privilege to be able to explore her life and her love.

Petra's Stone Collection was a beautiful experience. We were visiting from Maryland USA and it was absolutley worth the stop! So much history and recommend to anyone to visit here!

Really amazing rock collection, but crazy to pay $15 to see it. 3 stars because the wife thought it was worth it. Nice stop in the area right off highway 1 though with a coffee shop next door.

I'm lacking words to describe that place. It's beyond amazing, definite must see if you're travelling through Iceland. You're going to see a lifetime collection of rocks and minerals (+more) of Petra - local woman, that went to the mountains everyday in search for hidden treasures - beautiful rocks, that later she carried down the mountains on her back. After she passed away her home and garden were turned into museum. As for me this had to be the best museum I've ever visited, I'll definitely visit again and I wholeheartedly recommend!
