Reyniskirkja Church features traditional wooden architecture and stands on the top of a hill, overlooking the village of Vik and its black basalt beaches. During the winter, the snowy mountainous vistas make for pretty pit-stop photo opportunities. Considering this parish is isolated, pre-planning is essential, as you'll only be able to enter and/or attend services on specific days. Get in touch with a local tour operator for more info. Just metres away from the Reynisfjara beach. Looked a tad dirty as compared to other churches I had seen. The church being close to the beach, probably doesn't have the same charm as some of the others do. But surely the surrounding landscape makes it look just as cool.
-
the church itself is not super extraordinary but with the flowers, it looks like fairytale comes true.
-
Almost all the churches in Iceland are looking alike. But this one is different in 2 ways. It is located at a stunning location and it has a small cemetery besides it. Lovely place.
-
As per most churches on the island, it has the traditional red spire and wooden constriction. But this one sits in a stunning location close to the black sand beach.
-
It's literally along the way to the black sand beach or reynisfjara so you won't miss it - a quick stop to take pictures - fascinating is there's a small cemetery next to it ...
