Dodda Ganapathi Temple features a giant idol of Lord Ganesha. Originally constructed by Kempegowda I, Bangalore's founder, this shrine occupies a spot where the ruler ordered a massive boulder to be sculpted into a stone idol of Ganesha. The 5.5 m (18 ft) high idol boasts various forms of elaborate decorations, including some created using layers of butter.
