Create an itinerary including Aga Khan Palace
See an important landmark and monument of Indian national history at Aga Khan Palace, a building linked to the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and his family. Gandhi, his wife Kasturba, and his secretary Mahadevbhai Desai were held prisoner here following the launch of the Indian independence movement in 1942. Kasturba and Desai passed away while in captivity, and today their samadhis (tombs) represent major sites of pilgrimage. The Italian-influenced palace, built in 1892 by Imam Sultan Muhammad Shah Aga Khan III, now houses the national memorial to Gandhi, with photographs and paintings capturing moments from his life and the independence movement he inspired. The palace was an act of charity by the spiritual leader of the Nizari Ismaili Muslims, who wanted to help the poor in the neighbouring areas of Pune, who were drastically hit by famine. Built: 1892 Location: Pune, Maharashtra, India Area: 19 acres (77,000 m2) One of the my best journey to Aga Khan Place in Pune. If you are in Pune or if you are visiting here. It is an iconic historical monument with a rich history related to Mahatma Gandhi and Indian Independence history. The architecture is beautiful and place is well maintained. There are big gardens all around, so its a good place for a fun outing with family or friends. The place also has a great museum with things, photos etc. related to Mahatma Gandhi and other key figures. Everyone should visit this place for a rich glimpse of our history. Also, its a great place for clicking photos and like a heaven for social influencers. I have attached a lot of photos in this review, covering 360-degree view of this beautiful monument. Have a look, enjoy, and visit if possible. Parking is free and for Indian citizens, Ticket price is Rs.25, for foreigners its Rs.300.
  • A very good place to visit with family or friends. A lot of information about Mahatma Gandhi and our freedom struggle is shown in palace rooms. The entire area is very well maintained and clean. Can click some amazing pics here. Entry fees: ₹25 Parking: Spacious Parking available
  • Nice place to visit with your family and friends too. People who love to visit historic places for them its good. You can click your photos with palace from outside and you get great background there. Greenery is there so you can sit in shadow of trees and enjoy your peaceful time. Canteen food is tasty must try grilled sandwich and don’t try coffee as they put lot of sugar in it.
