Visit Shaniwar Wada, an 18th-century fort which, at its peak, housed over a thousand people. The fort, built in 1732, once stood at seven stories high, and was the capital building of the Peshwa empire. An unexplained fire tore through the fort in 1828, burning for seven days. Only the fortification walls, gateways, and the nine bastions that surrounded the palace remain today. Learn about the fort's rich and interesting history, and admire the remains of what was once considered the seat of the Peshwa rulers. • Nothing special about this place, just a garden and a poorly maintained one at that. You would think with the high entry fee (300r for foreigners) the ASI would maintain the gardens.

  • We visited this fort at 9 o’clock and it had no crowd or queue. Entry was 25rs, no card accepted, better carry cash with you. Now about the palace, once you come near to the fort, you travel back in time. Imagine how beautiful this place would be and what all history is associated with it. Hire a tour guide if you can afford and it’s more fun to hear the history rather than reading it. Overall an awesome experience. Highly recommended visit.
  • Good place for a one time visit. Entry ticket is priced at 25\- for adults and free for kids. They have a view point in the 1st floor of the fort. Try to avoid visiting in the afternoon time as its too hot and the place has limited trees. Parking space is limited too. There are some good restaurants nearby.
  • This place has a rich chapter in Maratha Empire history. Most of the structures are destroyed now. But the remains are beautiful. But I feel like this place could have been maintained better. Security guards are very less. The ticket collection system could have been made way better. Management issues are there within the staff whenever there's a big crowd. Ticket prices are as follows, below 15 years Indian nationals don't need tickets. For above 15 years Indian nationals have to pay 25 rupees. Foreign nationals need to pay 300 rupees.
  • A beautiful place... Worth spending time and a real treat for history lovers 😍... It's like any other fort but the major difference is that it's situated amidst the hustle and bustle of the city😇... Amazing if u go in a big group... And a paradise for photo freaks😅...
  • It is a nice place to visit with your family. Mostly the walls are now left of this monument. The entry ticket price is rs 20 per person. The garden inside is well maintained. You can walk in the outer wall or spend some time in the garden. Apart from that there is nothing much to do here.
