Yashwant Gad Fort, Redi

Incredible old fort in really good condition, with many rooms and walls inside. Views from the top, of the sea, were breathtaking. There are many levels to get to the top. A caretaker is just outside that will walk you through and make it easier to navigate, then you can go back and explore if you want. If you like history and forts definitely see this one.

My best day in Goa was when I went to this fort and the way this place surprised me with it's eerie-ness throughout the whole 3 hour visit. Government has taken care of the entry and I am glad nobody tried to reconstruct or repair the rest of the fort. The way Banyan trees have taken over the whole fort just blew my mind and then to top it off, an absolutely empty and scenic beach is a 2 minute walk down the main gate of the fort!

This fort is in great condition even after so many years. You could see beautiful beach and look at the vast open waters from the fort. It was build to overlook the trade happening via water and important to control the sea and territory. Now a days the vicinity of the fort is spoiled due to drug addicts and hippies, after sunset you could easily find some people doing drugs, smoking and drinking, also you could find foreigners in there doing such stuffs. These activities are breaking the sanctity of such a historical place.

This fort is also known as Redi Fort as it is located in the village Redi near the Maharashtra-Goa border. This fort is well maintained by the archeology department. This fort is built in 3 hectares area. There are some parts of the fort are good in condition but some are in really bad condition due to roots of the trees are causing damage to the walls of the fort. You must visit this fort in your Konkan Trip.

Great to see this fort. Got to know about it while visiting fort tiracol. Really nice to visit it and have spectacular views of the sea and old structures. Surely a must visit and a place that government should develop and maintain.
