A trip to Viceregal Lodge allows you to examine some of the most evocative articles and photographs from the British rule in India. Completed in 1888, this historically significant building was built in the Jacobethan style by the British architect Henry Irwin. Visit the staterooms that show how the entire building has been transformed into a university complex, or walk through the immaculately maintained gardens that surround the former Indian viceroy's summer residence. A short walk west of the estate you'll find the summit of Observatory Hill, which provides panoramic views over the region. A beautiful monument to adore & go through the history which was well narrated by the Guide. The historic importance of building ranging from its construction, water harvesting system, first building to have electricity back in those days to Shimla Conference every detail is worth knowing. The building is been kept well maintained both internally & externally. The lush green gardens with variety of flowers can hold you forever and make a beautiful landscape backdrop. The staff is very humble, helpful & polite. Advice: 1) Be mindful if traveling with young kids. 2) Book your slot well in advance to avoid waiting else you can enjoy the scenic beauty in meantime. 3) Usage of camera is prohibited inside the building.

Iconic colonial architecture, sprawling gardens, must-visit museum The moment you enter the Viceregal Lodge premises, you could taste a slice of Shimla’s rich colonial history. The building’s architecture captivates you immediately and takes you back in time. The popular botanical garden in the compound has key plant species. And the lawn in front of the building is really pretty. You could also explore the extended parts of the garden by taking staircases climbing down. Important info: Tickets for entering the premises are free. The museum stays busy during weekends.

Beautiful place and beautiful garden. You need to shed 30rs per person for garden and outside area. Rs 200 ticket for both inside tour as well as garden area. Which is zero value for money in my opinion. Nothing to show, low maintained area with negligible information. Old valuable item are removed and only some pictures are added in each room to pass your time. You can choose according to your taste. A cafe with snacks and beautiful surroundings is a plus to visit this place.

Rental vehicle is also available but come by footsteps and enjoy the view.... . Fee for park is 30 rupees and for the fort is 170 rupees. Park is quite good and well maintained and it is also big. Small snack store is also available for water or cold drinks etc. . Must visit this place. Overall great experience
