Visit Tara Devi Temple and enjoy sweeping views of the Himalaya valley and verdant peaks beyond. Relax in the peaceful surroundings and serene atmosphere of the temple, built over 250 years ago atop a lush hill. Remember to remove your shoes upon entry to the site, and beware the light-fingered monkeys in the area, who apparently won't hesitate to take your phone. • #Tara Devi Temple, Shimla The Tara Devi Temple is a holy place, located 11 km away from the Shimla Bus Stand. It is positioned amid a thick forest of oak and rhododendron and offers scenic views of the lofty Himalayas surrounding the town. The temple is very famous among tourists as the clean and fresh atmosphere here helps them relax from the day to day worries of life. It is believed that the goddess Tara Devi came all the way from Bengal to Himachal Pradesh and so this temple is dedicated to the goddess of stars. Tara Devi Temple is an ideal place for a person seeking peace and tranquility.
  • Beautiful temple situated in one if the hills in Shimla. The drive to the temple is worth experiencing.Temple is neat, clean and well maintained. You will feel the sukoon here. Also one can enjoy the view of the city.
  • Tara Devi temple is located in top of a hill near Shogi By-pass.. Sometimes Google map shows wrong directions to the temple so don't blindly follow maps..There is a sign board on Shimla highway which shows direction to Tara Devi temple, follow that route only..The last 2.5 Kms of road to Tara Devi Temple is very steep and has many hairpin bends..if you are not confident about driving and has a very old vehicle.. please please don't go from your vehicle because it's narrow and steep and could be fatal and the parking to the temple is ample but many times police controls the entry of vehicles to the temple in case the parking is full.. There are some shops where you can purchase Prasad and plastic toys for kids near parking..There are 2 temples on top , main temple is dedicated to Mata Tara Devi and another one is dedicated to Shiv Bhagwaan, Shiv temple is approx 100 mts. away from main temple in back side..both of the temple are made up of wood and stone in Kath Khuni Architecture.. the location of the temple is too high that you can see a view of Shimla City very clearly..The temple closes at 8:00 pm..There is a bhandara hall too where you can have bhandara on some special days . Try to avoid going here in rains because of steep road.. Overall great and peaceful experience and amidst serene environment..
  • A must visit place to see the valley especially during the mild sunlight and viewing Shimla from a bit high altitude. If we talk about temple infrastructure. It is just mind blowing: ruch heritage of our country, peaceful cite and clean fresh air.
