Caherconnell Stone Fort & Sheepdog Demonstrations, Caherconnell

This was a fantastic place to visit. The inside staff were very friendly, the food was excellent but the absolute highlight was the guide who took us around the fort. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and was clearly very experienced in explaining it to others. She was great. We'd definitely recommend the fort tour to anyone with an interest in history.

Really interesting guided tour and fun sheepdog demonstration. The dogs are so cute and you can pet them after they’ve finished their show. The shepherd also explains how the dogs are trained and the breeds of sheep.

What a neat experience! Our family loved the sheepdog demo and our kids loved it. They both insisted on a souvenir from the gift shop. They also had a lovely cafe with sandwiches and cakes. My latte wasn’t the best but everything else was good.

We stopped by on our drive through Burren and had not scheduled our drive to correspond to the sheep dog demonstrations. They are currently taking place at 11:15 and 14:15. Unfortunately we arrived at 2:45. We paid 6 euros each and visited the stone fort. They have a 25-min video you can watch as well as a walk through the fort. They provide a nice educational brochure to help. It is very uneven so you need good shoes to walk around it. They also have a cafe/ restaurant/ shop on sight. We asked to see the sheep and dogs in their kennels just through a different door but they said no because we missed the demonstration. Seemed ridiculous as it was only use and a couple other small groups there. We didn’t find the staff particularly nice. I would suggest more flexibility if you want to drawn in more crowds and have repeat visitors

This experience was really cool! The border collies are so well trained and it's amazing to see them in action. We got a lot of information on how the dogs are trained and then see it all in practice. There's a gift shop, bathrooms, and a little Cafe here as well.
