National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology
Housing a trove of archeological treasures, National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology displays items unearthed in Ireland as well as items from ancient Egyptian and Roman relics. The museum building, a major tourist attraction in and of itself, features a colonnaded entrance opening into a rotunda, designed to pay homage to ancient Roman architecture. Inside you can explore an extensive collection of prehistorical gold artifacts and metal objects from the Celtic Iron Age. Be sure to visit the second-floor galleries, chronicling the four centuries of Viking rule over Dublin. To discover the exhibits at your own pace and focus on areas most suited to your interests, pick up a floor plan at the entrance, or check online for a free downloadable brochure. Only the ground floor is wheelchair accessible. Closed on Mondays ( including Bank Holidays, Good Friday, and Christmas Day). Wonderful collection of Irish archeological history, from pre history to medieval times. The treasury, with its items of gold, is particularly interesting.

Pretty interesting museum and has a good selection of exhibits. Worth a visit if you have time but nothing to plan a day around. Currently undergoing some reconstruction and that ruins the flow of the museum and half the exhibits were closed and you had to enter through the gift shop which was very messy. Might be better when it’s finished

Very interesting, lots to see with videos and great descriptions that really tell a story. The new Viking exhibit is colorful and lively which is ironic for a archeology museum, kids seems very engaged and the building itself and beautiful with amazing architecture.

Fascinating exhibits. Even if the place is undergoing renovation now it’s still pretty big and lots of things to see. I went a little late so didnt get to see all the sections. Im already impressed of what i saw esp the vikings exhibit but will comeback for those i missed. I think this place is worth the visit when you are in Dublin and the entrance is free!

Great experience and exhibition. Vikings, ancient Egypt are impressive. I love this place don't to mention building itself. Unfortunately the beautiful entrance presently is renovated and you will have to come again to see it.
-
I love mid-sized, well planned and created museums, this is one! You can travel through time in Irish history, with great details of the everyday life of Irish people from the beginning of times up until the medieval era. Spend some hours here, it is an amazing experience and also free :).
