History and Legends Tour
Jane,the experienced local guide leads you through the atmospheric winding streets and “bow-ways” of the town, while revealing the intriguing characters and stories that shaped its history. Hear about the mythology and legends of the town – from banshees to Biddy Early (the magical lady of Clare who was tried for witchcraft in Ennis). Hear tales of murders and hangings, famine and poverty, rebellions and riots and discover how the most powerful men from Irelands past – amongst them Daniel O’Connell, Eamon de Valera and Charles Stewart Parnell were closely linked to the town.

We recently were visiting the beautiful western coast of Ireland on a WAMT. We had the pleasure of having Jane from Ennis Walking tours as our tour guide through the streets of this lovely, medieval town. Jane was knowledgeable, pleasant and shared lots of interesting info regarding Ennis. We would highly recommend Jane and Ennis Walking tours if you are lucky enough to be travelling in this beautiful part of Ireland or just want to learn more about the history of Ennis.

Jane gave our tour group an enjoyable, entertaining and educational tour around Ennis a couple days ago that we all really enjoyed. It was raining steadily, sometimes heavily, during the tour and she managed to keep our interest with her stories and anecdotes of the history of Ennis and surrounding area. She can tailor a tour to match your interests. I know she also has tours customized for children. She and her family live in Ennis and have a strong bond with the history and future of the area. There were a couple of people in our group who had already toured with her the day before but they loved it so much that they went again. If you’re in the area, either book her daily tour or have her customize one for you based on what you want to see.
